Verizon cannot continue to pay more to influence our government than it does in taxes. At a minimum, pay as much in taxes as you spend on lobbying.
We knew that big corporations have gone a long way towards buying off our government. But we didn’t realize it had gotten this bad.
A report just came out that says that for the past three years, many of the biggest companies in the country, including Verizon, have spent more money on lobbying than they have paid in taxes. Verizon has been especially aggressive, earning over thirty billion dollars and paying ZERO taxes. Instead, Verizon received over $12 billion in government subsidies, money which helped fund the $52 million it paid for lobbying during that time.
Sign our petition to Verizon demanding that, at the bare minimum, it pay as much in taxes as it does in lobbying.
