The world media is going to be in Chicago next week to cover the NATO Summit, and many top environmental journalists are attending the Heartland climate-denial conference — in large part because your efforts to end Heartland’s corporate support has become a big story. Clear Channel’s censorship is generating even more coverage, including an article in the New York Times.
All of this attention is strengthening our campaign to de-fund the Heartland Institute. Eleven corporations have already dropped their support, and nearly half of Heartland’s expected 2012 corporate funding has been eliminated. But we won’t stop until we’ve completely marginalized their extremism, and held them accountable for persistently denying established climate science. These ads are another big step in making that happen.
And if you need one more reason to chip in, imagine this: the look on the faces of the Heartland conference attendees when they find themselves encircled by bikes demanding that their corporate backers pull out immediately! Please help make that possible by chipping in whatever you can. Together, we can pressure the remaining Heartland holdouts, and hold corporate supporters of climate change denial accountable.
Can you chip in $5 or $10 to help make our people-powered ads possible?
